Message from David Burns – Founder and CEO of IBC

Me professional

“I would like to take a brief moment to introduce myself so you have a clear picture of who I am and what this website is all about.

I grew up playing ball in a small town in Canada and post high school, although talented enough, I decided not to pursue a college and professional baseball career for financial reasons. Instead I decided to get an education at a local college where there was no baseball program at the time (UBC-Okanagan). I continued to play the game I love in a local competitive men’s league until an opportunity to play in Austria one summer fell in my lap.

In 1999 I came to Austria as an import baseball player for the Attnang Athletics. To make a long story short, I met and married an Austrian woman and now have two children here in Austria. I continue to play today at the age of 41 and house the imports who come to play for us every year. This keeps me feeling young and motivates me to keep playing. However sliding is no longer an option. It is a stand up double or long single these days.

The website started as a fun project when I discovered the need for such a platform and it rapidly grew into my full-time job. With the help of the IBC team (below), we annually connect over 120 talented players and coaches with more and more organizations around the globe. As sponsors continue to come on board it will allow the company to continue to grow while also to keeping it affordable for our members.

I have a bachelor’s degree in business with a major in marketing which for the most part is outdated in today’s online marketing world. I had to teach myself the marketing ways of the modern world with social media while also becoming adept at building websites using WordPress.

My role with IBC is to continue to develop strong relationships with clubs around the globe while also supporting our Gold Members as an advisor in their pursuit to take their career overseas. I also support the IBC staff in their roles when needed.

I encourage you to reach out and say hi by either email or over social media. If you have any questions I will get back to you ASAP!”
