Andrew Boes – Hard throwing Pitcher/Coach seeking EU club for 2018
Andrew Boes is a former relief pitcher out of Texas State University, in the very competitive Sun Belt Conference (IBC 2017 ranking of 9.5/10 for NCAA conferences). His best year at TSU was his sophomore year where he posted a 3.00 era while striking out 17 batters in 18 innings of relief work while holding some of the best NCAA I hitters in the nation to a measly .190 batting average.
Andrew spent his freshman through junior seasons at Texas State before transferring to St. Edward’s University (NCAA DII) for his senior year in 2016 after redshirting in 2015 at TSU. In his single season at SEU he left his mark with an era of 1.68 while striking out 28 batters in just over 19 innings of relief work.
Andrew is a fastball/sinker guy from a ¾ armslot (almost sidearm) who describes his velocity as sitting 86-92 as a starter and out of the pen 88-92, touching 94 (velo’s yet to be verified). He also throws a power curveball in the 76-82 range. Almost all of his summer ball experience has been as a starter, while at Texas State and St. Edward’s he was primarily coming out of the pen and therefore is comfortable with both moving forward with his career. He describes himself as having a rubber arm who can typically hold a steady velo for about 120 pitches.
Since graduating from college in 2016 Andrew has continued to compete for the Austin Shockers of the Centex Collegiate Baseball League where he is used primarily as a starter. In addition to playing, Austin has also taken on a coaching role for the Shockers. As of the fall of 2017 he has also taken on the role as the coach of a local U13 team in Austin.
Andrew is getting married in March 2018, and soon after is looking to take his career overseas first to Europe for the summer of 2018. His wife will be joining him on this journey and the couple are open to shared living accommodation arrangements.
Andrew is excited about playing and coaching overseas and has this to say about the possibility of doing so:
“I have always wanted to travel and live abroad, and my fiancee would love to live abroad as well. I would also love to get into coaching as a possible career after I am finished playing, and I think that playing and/or coaching in Europe would be a great way to further my baseball knowledge and experience.”
