Anthony Buonaiuto – Big Canadian LH hitting two-way player

Anthony Buonaiuto is an 6’3” outfielder/pitcher out of Toronto, Canada who is currently in his senior year at George Brown College of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA). Pitching is his secondary position but Anthony has seen some time on the mound at the college level.

At the plate Anthony swings from the left side with good discipline and an ability to hit for average with gap power. He has good speed (6.8/60) on the base paths with to turn a double into a triple as highlighted by his league leading three triples during college fall ball in 2017.

As a pitcher he describes himself as throwing a low 80’s two-seam fastball complimented by a curveball, and a changeup.

Tom Valcke, the Head Coach at George Brown had this to say about Anthony recently:

“Anthony is the consummate pro, he’s one of those guys that goes all out for seven innings, no questions asked. He was a leader by example for us all season, a coaches dream from my point of view. Ability-wise, he is a five-tool player who makes Kevin Pillar-like catches, his throws are on-line with carry, he steals bases, hits the ball to all fields with gap power“.

Anthony has experience coaching youth and is open to coaching a youth team for any club which signs him.

Any club seeking a two-way player who can also contribute to the youth program is encouraged to reach out to Anthony with any expressions of interest.

“Anthony is the consummate pro, he’s one of those guys that goes all out for seven innings, no questions asked. He was a leader by example for us all season, a coaches dream from my point of view. You never heard Anthony chirping, he’s always focused on the task at hand and his actions spoke louder than words. Looking forward to next season, he’s the type of guy we need to be a pillar of this program.

Ability-wise, he is a five-tool player who makes Kevin Pillar-like catches, his throws are on-line with carry, he steals bases, hits the ball to all fields with gap power (he led the league in triples).  He is in excellent athletic condition, agile and fleet.
I’d be remiss not to add that my assessment of Tony has credibility beyond me just being George Brown College’s head coach.  I have worked full-time in the baseball industry for 30 years now, ten of which I was a full-time Supervisor with the Major League Baseball Central Scouting Bureau.  I also scouted for the Blue Jays.  I’ve coached our national team, I was the GM of the Cannons, I have taught baseball in 22 countries, and I was the Commissioner for baseball at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Summer Games.   Needless to say, I do not take giving player recommendations lightly.”

SIGNING PREFERENCES

If a club offered him a place to stay and a job, Anthony would be willing to pay HALF of his flight expenses. He is available immediately and is open to playing anywhere.
