Devan O’Bryan: Versatile C/INF with Gap to Gap Power Seeking Team for 2018 Season
Devan O’Bryan is a catcher and infielder with experience playing at a high level throughout collegiate leagues around America. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri and attended St. Louis Community College – Meramec where he started his collegiate career. In his sophomore season, Devan put up some good numbers batting .319 through 191 ABs with 55 runs scored and a .415 OBP. After finishing his junior college career on a high note, Devan transferred to Drury University which is an NCAA Division II program that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
In between his college seasons, Devan would play in highly competitive summer collegiate wood bat leagues. While playing with the Rochester Ridgemen in 2016, Devan batted .419 with an impressive .767 slugging percentage.
His former coaches attest that Devan has gap to gap power with the strength to hit the occasional homerun. He has a high baseball IQ and knows how to play the game the right way. Although he has average speed, he is smart on the bases and was able to steal 25 bags in his four year career. Behind the plate Devan can reach a pop-time below 2 seconds which gives him a good chance to throw runners out.
In the summer of 2017 Devan took his career overseas to play in the Austrian first division for the Dornbirn Indians where he hit .377 with 9 doubles and 2 home runs in 53 abs.
Devan plans to return to college in the fall of 2017 to finish his Finance Degree. He is looking to play somewhere in Europe this summer as a late pickup. Or find something for next year after he finishes his schooling. Any team looking for a catcher/infielder, should contact Devan.

Logan Hughes (Hitting Coach at Drury U)
“Devan is an outstanding baseball player with a very high baseball IQ. He understands situations, when to run, when not to run, always knows where to go with the ball, and makes good decisions at the plate, on the bases as well as on defense. Defensively he has great hands in the infield with an average arm. What he lacks in arm strength he makes up for it in how quick he gets rid of the ball. At the plate he has gap to gap power with an uphill swing looking to drive the baseball. He is not the fastest runner but what he lacks in foot speed he makes up for with his instincts and baseball smarts. He understands the game and when to run to steal bases. He is an awesome person and even better teammate. First class in everything he does. You will never have any issues with him off the field. I highly recommend Devan for any team.”
Eric Peterson (Assistant Coach at Drury U)
“You won’t find a better young man that Devan. His character stands alone, on and off the field. He shows some gap to gap power. His glove is playable. He will provide some utility on the field with his ability to be serviceable behind the plate, 3B and 2B.”
Andy Benes (MLB P for 14 years)
Devan is looking to sign with a club as a late pickup for the 2017 Summer in Europe. He will be finishing up his Finance Degree in the fall so he will not be available to play at the start of the Australian season. After he finishes his studies in December, he will be available to play anywhere through the summer of 2018. If the team offers him accommodations and a job, he would be willing to pay his flights.
