Duncan Izaaks: Middle Infielder/Pitcher Currently Playing in Australia Seeking Club for 2018 Season
Duncan Izaaks is an established two-way player looking to extend his overseas baseball career. Having dual-citizenship (South Africa & New Zealand) has opened a lot of doors for Duncan and he has found himself traveling throughout the world to play the game he loves.
In 2011, Duncan received an offer to play for Colby Community College in Kansas, where he batted .356 through his two-year collegiate career. He received All-Conference honors in his sophomore season as a second baseman and received offers to transfer to Division I colleges. Unfortunately, after breaking his hand in 2014, Duncan had to take a year off opf baseball. He returned to Australia, continued to work and is now stronger than ever.
Over the past three years, Duncan has been playing baseball in Southern Australia and has been named to the SABL All-Star team in both 2016 and 2017. He has worked out with the Adelaide Bite in the Australian Baseball League and is now looking to play in Europe for the 2018 season. He has the athletic ability and the experience to play anywhere on the field. He has a strong arm, a good glove, and speed. He can be slotted at the top of a lineup as a leadoff or two-hole hitter since he often gets on base and can steal some bags.
It all started when I went to the World Children Baseball Fair in Japan followed up by the Little League World Series when I really started to fall in love with the game. As a kid from NZ, I never had as much opportunity but I always knew I was super sporty and athletic and if given the chance I will succeed at the game. My favorite players growing up when I was young were Ichiro Suzuki, Derek Jeter, and Jose Reyes. Watching these two eventually made me want to switch hit which I did for many years, recently giving it up to focus on left hand to hit for more power. I enjoy every bit of this game and couldn’t see myself without it. I consider myself a leader and also the spark for the team, being the one that keeps everyone up and going. I hope to get an opportunity to play somewhere where I can prove myself, get myself recognized and make a living doing it, I think with the right people it will be a fun journey.

Duncan has a number of tools that allow him to influence a ball game. He profiles best as a 2 hitter, but can also lead off or handle the 3 hole. He has gap to gap power and the ability to hit the occasional long ball. His speed on the base path can be game changing, finding extra bases where others wouldn’t, beating out infield hits and swiping bags at will. Swinging from the left side, Duncan has the ability to hit for a high average in quality leagues.
Duncan also offers a lot of versatility on the defensive end. A natural shortstop with a power arm, he plays a fantastic 3b or 2b as well. Duncan also has the ability to play outfield where his speed and arm strength make him a real asset.
Finally, Duncan has value on the hill, leading the SABL in saves last season. This speaks volume of his mindset, wanting the ball when the games on the line and delivering in pressure situations. This year he has stepped into the number 2 starter role and delivered a number of quality starts, mixing his pitches and keeping quality hitters off balance by changing his timing.
Wherever Duncan finds himself playing, he will without doubt improve the team he plays for. Please feel free to contact me for further information if you need it, or statistics from the South Australian Baseball League.

Plays hard, plays the right way. He’s one of those defenders where you stop and say, “he’s everywhere!” Good range and always seems to be in the right place. Good lead off or two hole hitter who is a definite threat to steal bases. Laid back and easy going from what I’ve seen.

Dunc is solid on all levels of the game both physically and the mental aspect of he game. Most competitive player on the field at all times always brings energy. Smooth aggressive playing actions.
