Evan Maecker – Leadoff hitter / CF at Holy Names Uni seeking EU club after graduation

Evan Maecker is the current leadoff hitter and starting center fielder at Holy Names University (NCAA II) and is looking to continue his baseball career after graduation in 2018.

After starting his career redshirting at NCAA I’s Saint Mary’s College of California, Evan made the decision not to pay for an expensive school and not play and transfer to Otero Junior College on a full ride scholarship. In his freshman year at OJC, now playing as a starter, Evan had a big year hitting .365 with 2 homeruns, 31 RBI and an OBP of .433. His performance earned him NJCAA Region IX First Team All-Conference honors.

His sophomore and junior year were also successful with Evan hitting a combined .283 with 4 triples and 2 homeruns while swiping 18 bags. After a 2017 summer which saw Evan play in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate League All-Star game, Evan goes into his senior year at Holy Names as one of their leaders and top offensive weapons. You can follow his season via this link.

Throughout his college career Evan has hit for average with the ability to hit the long ball. He also possesses leadoff speed, recently clocked at a 6.7-60m dash. He can also play middle infield given some time to work on it and is open to helping out with a youth program for any club that signs him.

Evan is no stranger to travel and living away from home. He spent his entire college career living away from home and friends and family, something he sought out and wanted. Evan has also visited eight countries to date and is looking forward to continuing to experience new cultures while playing the game he loves.

“Right before high school, I went on a family Christmas trip to Australia.  One day, we passed an Australian Baseball League stadium and since that day I have been hooked to the idea of playing baseball overseas.”

Any club seeking a team leader who brings a big bat to the lineup is encouraged to reach out to Evan with any expressions of interest.
