Frank Gailey: Veteran AA professional pitcher seeking change to overseas baseball. 2018 Australian Baseball League All-Star
Frank Gailey is a left-handed starting pitcher who was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 2007 MLB draft after posting a 2.25 era with 65 strikeouts over 64 innings for West Chester University (NCAA II) in his junior year.
Frank spent 8 years in the minors most of which was with the Blue Jays and the majority in AA ball. Since 2015 he has been with the York revolution of the Atlantic League and most recently signed on with the Canberra Cavalry of the Australian Baseball League for the 2017-2018 winter (current ABL stats). In his 11 seasons of professional baseball, Frank has an era of 3.08 era over 863.2 innings pitched with 770 strikeouts to only 255 walks.
Throughout his affiliated career he was used out of the bullpen, but since 2015 has been as starter which is where he is most comfortable. Throwing from multiple arm angles, Frank’s fastball sits 87-91 mph and is complimented by a change-up, breaking ball and a splitter.
Although Frank has no prior coaching experience, he is open to a player-coach role.
Frank on why he wants to take his career overseas:
“Ultimately my dream of the big leagues never got accomplished but my love and drive for the game grew stronger so I went to the Atlantic league to showcase myself and continue to do what I love. After 2.5 seasons there I felt it is time to see what the world has to offer and enjoy the cultures that I want to know more about.”
