George Amalvert – Pitcher and middle infielder with experience working with youth
George Amalvert finished his sophomore baseball season in 2017 as a right handed pitcher for Jefferson Community College. He received multiple offers to continue his athletic and academic careers at various NAIA, NCAA institutions but did not have the ability to fund the financial gap after receiving only partial scholarship offers. He is now looking to continue with his baseball career overseas as a two-way player.
In 2017 George held down an era of 2.05 in 26.1 innings of work which included one start. He describes his pitching abilities as throwing a two seam fastball topping out at 86 mph complimented by a changeup, curveball, and a sinker.
Despite being utilized only as a pitcher in college, George list his primary positions as SS/2B/3B and pitcher as secondary. He is a contact hitter whose strengths are up the middle and oppo (see video below).
George spent two summers (2013, 2015) as a baseball instructor and umpire for kids aged 10-12 at DREAM (formerly known as Harlem RBI), a free summer youth program in East Harlem and the South Bronx.
George on why he wants to take his career overseas:
“As a kid I always wanted to experience baseball in other countries and still to this day. I like meeting people from different backgrounds, being part of different coaching philosophies and embracing how different countries accept the culture of baseball.”
Any club looking for a two-way player who can be utilized either as a utility infielder, starting pitcher or relief pitcher is encouraged to reach out to George with any expressions of interest.

“George worked extremely hard his two years here and was a blessing to have on the roster. Always did what he was asked, put in the extra work, and was a solid competitor on the mound for two years. He was upper 70’s to low 80’s with great command. He has good arm side run on his fastball, plus breaking ball, and could spot his change up for a strike. George pitched in a lot of big games for us the past two seasons and was always prepared for his start. He not only would work hard on his game but was an excellent teammate, friend, and young man to coach. I would recommend George to anyone, or any program that is looking at him.”
