Heath Gray (RHP) – 6’7″ durable starting pitcher who can also hit (Signed for 2016-2017 season)

Heath re-signed with Baulkham Hills in Sydney.

Heath is a 6’7″ 230 pound starting pitcher who throughout his career is best known as a strikeout pitcher who goes deep into games.  A graduate of Erskine College, one of the top colleges in a very tough NCAA II Conference, Heath decided to take his career overseas to Australia in 2015 after the pro league in the U.S. where he was playing in went bankrupt.

In his first year playing for Baulkham Hills in Sydney, Heath logged 97.2 innings en route to a 10-2 record while holding opponents to a batting average of .198. After the 2015-2016 Australian season, Heath continued on his overseas baseball journey and this time found himself playing in Germany with the Hannover Regents in the top league, the German Bundesliga 1. Over the course of the 2016 spring and summer Heath started 12 games and went the distance in 11 of them while holding down a 2.28 era over 106.2 innings. This kind of durability is no surprise to those who know Heath best as that is what he has been doing on the bump his whole career. In 2012 & 2013 while pitching for Erksine, Heath threw 13 complete games, 5 of which were shutouts.

Throughout his college and pro career Heath always took batting practice and desired to come into the game as a hitter, knowing that he had the bat speed and hand-eye coordination to be a good hitter. However he was always looked at strictly as a pitcher until recently in Europe when he got the opportunity to hit in two invitational tournaments of which he was picked up to play. In these two tournaments, Finkstonball and Prague Baseball Week, Heath showcased his hitting skills by hitting .400 with 3 doubles and 2 home runs in 15 abs.

Aside from baseball, Heath is a very mild mannered, polite individual who is loved by his teammates and those around him. Any Australian club who seeks a durable, strikeout pitcher who can also contribute at the plate and as a teammate for this upcoming 2016-2017 season would benefit in more ways than one by signing Heath.
