Jared Van Hoon: All-Conference Infielder and Pitcher with Pro Experience Seeking Club for 2018
Jared Van Hoon is an athletic two-way player/coach who can pitch, play infield, hit, and help his teammates get better. From high school, through college, and into his overseas career Jared has performed at a high level and is now looking to continue to travel and play the game he loves.
At Pacific University, Jared was named 1st Team All-Northwest Conference Utility Player as well as being named to the Rawlings ABCA All-West Region Team. In junior college, Jared was named 2nd Team All-Conference Infielder twice, and named 2nd team All-Conference Pitcher once. In high school, Jared dominated every season compiling a list of rewards including MVP, 1st Team All-League, 2x Pitcher of the Year, and an Oregon All-State Selection.
Aside from playing, Jared also brings with him a passion for coaching. He has coached at the varsity high school level for 3 years and as an assistant coach/junior college recruiter at Pacific University. He helped run camps for youth players and prospects that the university is interested in. Most recently, Jared has coached the Sunshine Baseball Club in Melbourne, Australia. Jared would be a great addition to any team who is looking for an ambassador of the game who is also a versatile player who can play infield, hit, while also performing on the mound.

Barry Adan (Seattle Studs Coach)
“Jared is an excellent middle infielder and is also a competitive pitcher at the semi pro level. I highly recommend Jared for a position with any team you can place him with. I have had Jared play for me for a full season in 2013 and part of 2012 and 2014. You will have to go a long ways to find a young man with better character and work ethic.”
Jake Anders (Lake Oswego Coach)
” Jared is an absolutely outstanding young man. He played for me and has coached with me. He was an excellent high school player and had a very good college career followed by some independent stuff that he did very well in too. Jared is a top notch person in regards to character and work ethic and as a human being. He is going to not only do whatever he can to help his team but I honestly believe Jared is going to be a big asset as a coach someday.”
John Barnes (Pacific University Coach)
“Jared is one of the most competitive kids I have ever coached in my 21 years of coaching at the high school and college level. He would be a big asset to any ball club that needs a gap to gap hitter, plus drag bunter, SS/3B, and RH pitcher. He was a big reason why Pacific University won the first Northwest Conference title in over 30 years. Another big asset for Jared is his ability to make others around him better, he leads by example and would be a great role model of how to play the game of baseball the right way. Jared has all the intangibles that [any] baseball team would be looking for, he’s very intelligent on the baseball field, his work ethic is top notch, as well as his ability to make others around him better. Jared is very reliable and responsible, when Jared says he’s going to do something it’s as good as done. I would think that Jared would be able to make the needed transitions to a new culture and language very smoothly.”
Jared is looking for a club in Europe for 2018 who is willing to set him up with a job and accommodations. He is willing to pay for his own flights if necessary.
