Matthias Zotti – Young, hard throwing Italian pitcher seeking new challenge
Matthias Zotti is a hard throwing, highly motivated Italian prospect who is currently playing in the highly competitive Western Australian Baseball League for the Rockingham Rams. Since the age of 17 Matthias has played for Padule, the latest team to promote to the Italian Baseball League.
Throughout his young baseball career Matthias has sought to challenge himself, enrolling in the Italian Baseball Academy, MLB academies and various showcases including a recent trip to the U.S. for a Washington Nationals/Philadelphia Phillies showcase. At a young age he had the privilege to represent his country as a member of the Italian U15 and U18 National Teams, including the U18 World Championship in Osaka, Japan in 2015.
A quiet presence on the mound, Matthias describes himself as an aggressive, first-strike thrower who isn’t afraid to throw off speed at anytime in the count and likes to work the inside fastball and slider. He is good at disrupting the timing of hitters while changing looks and is very effective against lefty hitters. Matthias prides himself on having a quick move to the plate and being good at holding runners. He describes his pitching repertoire as a four seam fastball ranging in velo from 84-90 mph, complimented by a 82-86 mph sinker, 80-84 mph cutter, 76-79 mph slider, 63-69 mph curve and a 70-75 mph circle change.
Matthias on his international baseball goals:
“My career as a baseball player really began to form when I joined the Italian Baseball Academy. Since then, I have been looking to challenge myself and pursue the highest level of baseball that I can play while travelling the world. I am proud to have worn the Italian National Team’s jersey and winning the European Championship was a dream come true. I would like to continue to pursue my passion and create more experiences like these. I have been trained by 2 ex-Major league players, including Pitcher David Bush and Hall of Famer Barry Larkin (NL MVP 95′) as well as AAA pitcher Yadel Marti Castro. I am excited to take what they have taught me and apply it in leagues all around the world.”
Any club in search of a quality starting pitcher who is hungry and improving every day is encouraged to reach out to Matthias with any expressions of interest.

“The Prague Baseball Week is one of the longest-running and most prestigious invitational tournaments for National Teams in Europe, starting in 1980. It’s held yearly in Czech Republic and features teams from Europe and beyond. Matthias is a young RHP who can both start and relieve, with a maturity that goes well beyond his years. He has a sinking fastball that sits in the mid-80s and peaks in the high 80s when used in short stints. He mixes 4 pitches (FB, SL, CB and CH) and is very good at changing speeds and throwing the hitter’s timing off. He will throw strikes and keep the ball on the ground. He could start for any Junior College and he could start or relieve on most D1 staffs. He has a proper arm action and has the durability to last deep into games if necessary, with a rubber arm that allows him to throw in back-to-back days. He has a strong work ethic and his passion and love for the game are evident.”
