Quentin Herbster – OF/IF with 5 years coaching experience

Since 2012 Quentin Herbster has been the hitting, pitching and assistant coach for 13U and 18U baseball teams within a youth baseball club in his home town of Goshen, Indiana. Most recently he has taken on the role as a high school softball strength and conditioning coach and as a personal instructor at an indoor training facility. Quentin is adept to coaching all ages and is comfortable taking on a role overseas as a player-coach.

Quentin was a standout in high school as an infielder and was converted to outfield in college because of his speed. In his first two years of college ball at Grace College (NAIA), Quentin received only 5 abs, taking a back seat to older outfielders who all hit over .300. He finally got his chance in his junior year (2015) and proved his worth with an offensive slashline of .321 /.409 /.432.  In his senior year Quentin decided to graduate college early and try his hand at professional baseball.

The past two seasons Quentin has been battling for a roster spot in the Pecos League and is now looking to play and coach overseas. In 2016 he was not selected out of the Pecos League spring season, but after a successful 2017 spring season where he hit .361, he was selected to the expansion Hollywood Stars roster by the Pecos commissioner. However after the Stars assigned coach brought in a slew of his own players, Quentin was released after only 7 pinch hit abs.

Quentin is a gap-to-gap hitter who hits for average with above average speed on the base paths. The former middle infielder and third baseman has a velo from the outfield ranging in the mid to upper 80’s.

Any club seeking an infielder/outfielder with a solid coaching background and a top-of-the-order bat is encouraged to reach out to Quentin with any expressions of interest.

“This is the guy that changes a team! Very rarely do you see a guy with this much talent work as hard as Quentin does. Most of the time you would expect a player of Quentin’s caliber to boast about his performance or playing ability but I’ve seen him more than once have the game-winning hit and the next day go back to the grind like nothing happened. I’ve known this kid for 6 years and never once have I seen him back away from the moment, lose his cool, or doing anything less than compete at the highest level. His mental strength and constant work ethic allow him to be among the most confident and consistent players I’ve seen, in a game where failure is inevitable. Off the field, I’ve seen Quentin look more for opportunities to help a teammate or get a lift in than I have him look for opportunities to take the credit.  I think that’s the biggest testament to Quentin as a player and of his character, that his success comes from the work he puts in and not from his God-given ability to play baseball.  As a coach, this is the guy you put in your outfield and you know day-in and day-out that you can’t ask for a more consistent star than Quentin Herbster.”

“Quentin Herbster played with the Elkhart Titans Baseball Club for approximately 5 years.  He is one of the most committed players I have ever coached.  He has a passion for the game that far exceeds the average player.  He works extremely hard at improving and understanding the finer points of the game.

This year I had the pleasure of coaching with Quentin during our Fall Ball league.  He related to the players well and demonstrated an extensive knowledge of the game.  He has a natural gift of instructing and establishing relationships with the players.

Quentin would quickly become an asset to any organization that he is affiliated with.”
