RJ Hively – Former AAA pitcher out of Ole Miss sitting 92-95 mph seeking overseas career. (SIGNED FOR 2018 SUMMER)

RJ Hively is a professional pitcher out of the University of Mississippi (NCAA I Southeastern Conference) who in his senior year of college posted a 3.02 ERA through 83.1 innings of work while striking out 98 and only walking only 20. He held his opponents to a measly .222 batting average against.

His performance earned him a 19th round draft pick by Arizona Diamondbacks and in his first season of pro baseball playing Short-Season A ball, RJ held down a 1.76 era and struck out 28 in 30.2 innings of relief work.

In 2015, at the age of 26, RJ was converted to a starting pitcher, receiving 14 starts between A+, AA, and AAA ball. Despite putting up decent numbers, RJ was released and has since been playing in the Atlantic League.

RJ throws a 2-seam fastball and 4-seam fastball with natural cut, both ranging from 91-96 mph. He also throws a slider ranging from 80-88 mph.

At the age of 29, RJ has decided it is time to take his career overseas and share his knowledge as an ambassador of the game while also helping a team put some wins on the board. He calls coaching his “passion” and is happy to take on a coaching role and use his knowledge to help grow the game around the globe.

RJ on why he wants to take his career overseas:

I would rather take this experience to travel the world and fulfill my lifelong dream of travel then continue with the same minor league path. I gave it everything I had. I do not feel like it was in God’s plans for me to make it to the MLB but to travel the world and share my knowledge and experience.”

RJ was referred to IBC by three trusted sources including Louis Cohen, who has played both in the Australian Baseball League and the German Bundesliga. He is still looking to play at a competitive level but is open to leagues that play at a level lower than what he is used to. A-Pool Europe is a good fit for his ambitions and he is open to hearing all offers at that level for the 2018 summer and the 2018-2019 winter.

Ross Peeples – Manager, Lancaster Barnstormers. Email:

Louis Cohen –  IBC Scout, Veteran of ABL and German baseball and former teammate. Email:

“RJ is a solid guy, has a good build and knows how to use it to get the best out of his arm. Throws a fastball that explodes out of his hand and slider that has good late break. Mentally he’s a competitor that when a task is put in front of him he will give you his all. Good guy off the field and enjoys time on the golf course.”

Arik Sikula – IBC Scout, Professional player and former opponent. Email:

“Playing against RJ was always a battle. He continually made himself the best pitcher on which ever team he played for. Throwing in the low to mid nineties and his competitive mentality made for tough battles against his team year in and year out.”

Financial arrangement: RJ would like his flights paid, accommodations provided, and a small salary to cover his living expenses.
