Ryan Saunders – C/P/3B with two years experience coaching youth
Ryan “Boomer” Saunders is a C/3B/P currently playing in Canberra, Australia and is looking to play in Europe in 2018.
Boomer chose to forgo college baseball and put his academics first after being accepted to Fairfield University, known for it’s quality academics. When deciding to go to Fairfield, Ryan knew that the school also had a competitive club baseball team as an alternative option for talented baseball players at the school who were not recruited to play on their NCAA I team. Ryan made the club team his freshman year and played all four years as a starter. In his junior year he was named the New England Club Baseball Association batting MVP.
He describes himself as a hard nosed, durable player who brings intensity and always gives 100%. Ryan has no problem catching a double header and coming in to pitch the last few innings on the day.
Defensively he is a solid catcher with a live arm and a 2.0 pop time who can also play the corner infield. Offensively he is a contact hitter who works the count and gets on base.
Ryan enjoys coaching and is open to a coaching role in addition to playing. The past two years he has been coaching youth as both a head coach and an assistant coach.
Any club interested in a catcher/utility player with a solid bat and experience coaching youth is encouraged to reach out to Ryan with any questions.

“First off, I know him as Boomer Saunders! Boomer is an awesome guy to have in the clubhouse. Positive, focused and passionate about the game of baseball. He’s always locked into the game. Be careful, off the diamond he will talk your ear off about baseball, too.As for a hitter, Boomer can get the barrel of the bat on the baseball. I was with him for 4 years and every year he was an anchor for us, even being league MVP. He’ll find any open spot on the field from left to right including over the fence.Boomer’s passion for baseball is reflected in his knowledge of the game behind the plate as a catcher. Every count, on-base situation and pitch, he anticipates and knows where the ball should be going given he has a chance to make a play at it. Not to mention, he lives for getting low and stone-walling a pitch in the dirt.In my experience with Boomer, he’s irreplaceable both in the dugout and the lineup and was a pleasure to work with!”
