Shane Salley: RHP/CF with International Experience Seeking Australian or European Club

Shane Salley is a 2016 college graduate with a degree in exercise science. Throughout his collegiate career, Shane saw a lot of success winning First-Team All-Conference honors at Roane State Community College and Second-Team All-ACC honors at Milligan University. In his senior season, Shane led his team in nearly every offensive category. He had a dream of playing professional baseball, so after the 2016 MLB Draft did not work in his favor, Shane decided to extend his baseball career overseas.

This past summer, Shane finished a championship-winning season with the Sölvesborg Firehawks of the Swedish Elite League. This is the first championship in Firehawks history and Shane was a significant factor in their success. Throughout the season, Shane pitched, played centerfield, and occasionally saw some time at second base. He batted .372 after 121 AB’s and held a 2.39 ERA through almost 40 innings. In the final game to clinch their championship victory, Shane went 5 for 5 to help secure a Firehawks win.

Now that Shane has had a taste of overseas baseball, he is looking to travel the world as much as possible, experience new cultures, meet different people, and use baseball as his ticket. He is searching for a team who can cover his flights, accommodations, and offer a job/salary to cover his living expenses. If possible, Shane is looking to continue playing overseas with his longtime friend and teammate James Watts, a right-handed pitcher with Dutch citizenship who played with Shane at Milligan College and the Sölvesborg Firehawks.

Shane’s a guy I would want on my team any time. As a player, he’s a hard-nosed, balls-to-the-wall type—solid gap-style hitter, led the league in stolen bases, runs down everything in center, mixed in with the occasional showtime impossible catch.  He can also play solid shortstop/infield, as well as provide legitimate innings on the mound. Not just a fill-in guy on the mound, but can be counted on to throw in important situations.

Aside from that, he’s a guy that gets along with everyone, willing to work with other players to help them improve, and also continues to put in effort to become the best player he can be.  He’s one of the guys I want to crack open a beer with after the game and talk about/analyze the game and share a few laughs.

SIGNING PREFERENCES

Shane is looking for a team overseas who can cover flights, accommodations, and a salary/job to cover living expenses. He is currently available and has no obligations to return home in the near future. If possible, Shane would like to continue playing with James Watts. Shane is open to hearing all offers.
