Tyler Caserta (INF/OF): Independent Ball Veteran Looking for an Opportunity to Play Overseas

Tyler Caserta is a quick utility player out of Stratford, Connecticut. He has played for six different professional organizations, most recently, the Bridgeport Bluefish in the highly competitive Atlantic League. Although he only saw limited playing time with the Bluefish, he made the most of his opportunities going 3 for 4 in arguably the most competitive independent league in America. Tyler runs a 6.4 60 yard dash, has been clocked at 93 mph from the outfield, and has a 98 mph exit velocity off the bat.

Now that Tyler has played throughout most of the U.S. and parts of Canada, he is looking for an opportunity to continue his travels and play overseas for the 2018 season. He would be a perfect fit for a European team who is looking to bring over someone who can help bring their team to the next level. Not only can Tyler play, but he is also passionate about teaching the game to others. With 11 years of coaching experience, Tyler would gladly coach youth players on how to play the game the right way.

Tyler’s Story:

I started my career at a small high school in Stratford, CT, not known for baseball. After helping to lead the way for the schools first ever SWC championship and putting together an outstanding .410 batting average, I went on to receiving a Division 1 offer to play college baseball at Central Connecticut State University. At CCSU, I was able to play right away as a freshman. We won the 2010 Northeast conference championship and got a bid to the NCAA national tournament. That summer I went to the Arizona collegiate baseball league and hit .320 with 26-28 stolen bases. I was voted an all star of the league and went to numerous pre-draft workouts where I ran a 6.5 60 yard dash and was clocked at 93 mph from the outfield. I received a lot of attention from MLB scouts but did not get drafted that year. The MLB scouts told me that they wanted to see me play another year in college. I decided to use my last year of eligibility to play at the powerhouse Eastern Connecticut State University. I had a great year but was not drafted.  I was invited to numerous private workouts for MLB teams such as the orioles, braves, yankees, and red sox. They all told me that they were interested but needed to put some numbers up in independent professional baseball. For the past 5 years, I have been traveling and playing pro baseball. Currently, I am in the best shape of my life and feel like that I am mentally at my peak to excel in this game. I am looking forward to another opportunity to continue my career.
